What does the test involve?
- Eyesight check: You’ll be asked to read a number plate from 20 metres away.
- “Show me, tell me” questions: The examiner will ask you two vehicle safety questions.
- General driving: You’ll be assessed on your ability to drive safely and confidently in various road and traffic conditions.
- Independent driving: You’ll have to follow sat nav directions or road signs for approximately 20 minutes.
- Manoeuvres: You’ll be asked to perform one reversing manoeuvre.
How long does the test last?
The practical test usually takes around 40 minutes.
What do I need to bring?
- Your provisional driving licence.
- Your theory test pass certificate.
- A car that meets the test requirements (if you’re not using a Pass Expert vehicle).
- Glasses or contact lenses if you need them to meet the eyesight standards.
How is the test marked?
You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test. However, you’ll fail if you commit a serious or dangerous fault.
